lacy leaf platter

This peach platter was embossed using a vintage lace tablecloth. And the platter mold is from Dollar Tree (circa 2007), as many of mine are. I’m not overly fond of the way this turned out, but I’m using it now to see if the pattern and colors will grow on me.
pinch pot!

I have a few of this style around the house. I use one for a by-the-bed organizer and one for offering a variety (3) of vegetables to guests. I really like the way the clay smushes through my fingers when I make these hand-build vessels.
BrrdGrrl welcomes you!
Hello, good morning/afternoon/evening, and welcome to my art site! I thought I’d kick us off with a picture of a platter I made a l-o-n-g time ago, when I was working out of Blue Heron Art Studio (Hi Melanie!) in Carrollton, Georgia. I’ve always struggled in considering myself an artist; I feel pretty good about saying I dabble in crafts or play with clay/ beads/ fabric/ acorns, but those an entirely different beasts. However! When this piece came out of the kiln, I was so proud and so excited and so thrilled and so happy. The results–finally–made me feel like an artist. Thus, this platter represents a turning point for me personally in how I see myself.
